Candles are a traditional way of decorating a wedding ceremony, and the unity candle may be used during the actual ceremony itself, the pillar candle in the centre being lit by taper candles held by the bride and groom.

White candles are traditional, and certainly fit into the theme of a formal ceremony, and you may choose to buy beeswax candles, which always look very attractive.

If you do design your wedding candle decorations with white candles, then you may want to decorate the candlestick with flowers and coloured ribbons, in order that your decorations don't seem bland.

A more informal wedding ceremony requires less restraint in the use of colour and design.

However, you should beware when you choose your wedding candle decorations of the different burning times of different candles; be sure to only buy candles from one company, as otherwise you may find half of them gutted before your ceremony is finished.

You should also check that these coloured candles are not scented, as a lot of different scents may make your guests uncomfortable.
