Through the years, the image and story of
Santa Clause has changed with the changing Christmas traditions. The Santa Clause most remembered in America in
the most recent years of Christmas history is the image drawn
by artist Haddon Sundblom, illustrator for the Coca-Cola
company. Mr.
Sundblom drew a series of Santa images Coke's Christmas
advertisements until 1964. The company still holds the trademark
for the Coca-Cola Santa design. The image of Santa Clause laughing merrily while
giving out Christmas gifts has become one of our most enduring
and lovable Christmas images. Whether a person is 2 or 82, the legend
of Santa still takes hold of most of us at Christmas time and adds
joy to the holiday season for young and old alike. |
