On the night of October 31, children are crossing the neighborhood lanes dressed in costumes and going door-to-door collecting sweets or money -- it is Halloween. And it is the season for halloween decoration outdoors.

The carved jack-o'-lantern, lit by a candle inside is a familiar sight during this time of the year.

For most homes, halloween lawn decoration is never complete without a carved pumpkin fashioned into a frightening or comical face and placed in the home's doorstep after dark.

There is a seeming flurry, the spooky kind, but it is all fun just the same. Indeed, in some parts of Ireland, Halloween is called “Pooky Night” presumably named after a mischievous spirit termed “puca”.

And spooky it can get when the outdoor garden decoration landscape is set up with Halloween's theme of scary things particularly involving death, black magic, mythical monsters or certain fictional figures like Dracula and Frankenstein's monster.

Halloween decoration outdoor of homes are stuffed with these symbols. Black and orange are the traditional colors of Halloween decoration garden sculpture.

In modern Halloween purple, green, and red are also prominent in images and products.

The ubiquitous pumpkin, as a Halloween outdoor garden decoration staple can also be set up as a fence-post.

Decorative ghosts placed in windows of the house facing the entry are fascinating. For Halloween outdoor lawn decoration, the walkway is the best spot for carved miniature pumpkins and jack-o'-lanterns with lighted votive candles inside.

During this interesting occasion, a scarecrow is never missing “his” halloween lawn decoration post by the doorway. A fun one would be a scarecrow holding up a sign that says something “tricky” like: “This way to tricks, that way to treats.”
