Carpet Maintaining Ideas

When planning Christmas tree decoration and searching out Christmas tips for your home, if you have carpeting, this should also be taken into consideration.

Some decorations, such as Christmas candle decorations, if not situated and maintained properly, can not only present safety problems, but also can be a threat to your carpet.

Christmas candle decorations, if not drip free, should always be placed in proper containers, both assuring safety and not allowing candle wax to drip over into your carpet.

It can be a big job trying to remove wax from the carpeting, especially after it has been trampled by holiday guests.

One cleaning Christmas tip for wax in the carpet is to simply place a paper towel over the wax.  Next hold a warm iron over it until the wax softens then, pick off the wax. Repeat if necessary.

Artificial Christmas snow can stain a carpet also.  Always spray your tree outside and wait for it to dry completely before bringing into the home.

Here is a Christmas tip for removing the film left behind by artificial Christmas snow.

Spray the carpet with a mixture of one part ammonia to three parts water. Scrub with a plastic scrubber if necessary.

Some Christmas tree decorations, such as tinsel are really best avoided altogether.

Not only are they rough on a vacuum cleaner when trying to extract then from your carpet, but can also pose a choking hazard for pets and children.

Water spilled from your Christmas tree holder and pitch from the tree can cause permanent carpet stains, another good reason for using a tree skirt under your Christmas tree.

With a little forward thinking and care, your Christmas tree decorations and candles can be used without causing damage to your carpet through the holidays.
