Pet Health Safety Tips

When making home decoration choices, pet owners should consider pet care and safety first.

Whether considering seasonal home decoration or year round decor, pets and their safety should come first for any conscientious pet owner.

Anything that is not pet friendly can be substituted with safer options that can be just as attractive. There are many safe pet friendly options to choose from.

Once a home decoration theme is chosen, it would be a wise choice to call the local veterinarian's office and ask if they have any tips or brochures to offer as guidelines for pet care when choosing home decorations.

Special attention should be paid to plants that may be used for interior decorating, as both cats and dogs will chew plants at times.

Many plants are poisonous to pets, and a list can be obtained from the veterinarian or via an online search.

Lit candles are obviously not a good choice to be located in a spot that easily accessible to pets. The candles can be knocked over and not only cause severe injury to your pet, but can start a fire in the home.

When using candy for decorations, especially chocolate, which can be harmful, even fatal to pets.

Secure all candy safely away from pets. The best rule is, if there is any question as to the safety of any decoration, do not use it.

There are too many safe options available for anyone to risk the safety of their little furry friends.
