 Flower Pot Decoration

As they are, flowerpots make for efficient vessels of one's blossoms. The aesthetic value is usually left to the blooms themselves, but a dash of creativity does not always spell repetition.

Minds left to abandon makes flowerpot decoration as creative as can be. If one may, the decorator can choose to paint, add rub-on decals, attach stencils, or apply decoupage techniques, not to mention embellishments possible with an unshackled imagination.

In any case, one will usually need a sturdy terra cotta pot in the process. If one must paint a flowerpot, two to three coats of the acrylic or latex paint of the shade of choice may suffice for painting the pot.

For a lustrous finish, a coat or two of spray-on varnish will do thereafter.

Using a good sealant afterwards is sound. Flowerpots to be used for planting may be sealed with oil-based polyurethane. In contrast, decorative pots not to be used for plants may be sealed inside with a water-based polyurethane or craft acrylic sealant.

Else, decoupages complement as floral decoration for one's pot. Whether or not it contains fresh flower decoration, the overall impact of the product will be one for the record. Media for decoupages include wrapping paper, wallpaper, greeting card, fabric or even seed packets. Conversely, ink jet-printed images won't do as they smear.

These are some materials to cut out shapes from, after which they may be adhered to the pot for that much-esteemed decoupage.

One can never go wrong with sealing the decoupage with a water-based polyurethane later. In the end, the finished products might find niches other than functioning as sanctuaries for those blossoms.

Among others conjured by any capricious imagination, flower pot decorations can result in table flower decoration, bells, bird baths, candle holders, gift baskets and many different craft items. Poinsettias, cloves and cinnamon sticks may also be used as a pot's Christmas flower decoration.
