Evergreen is also associated with the smell
of the holidays. In the countryside, holiday tables
are spread with pretty floral table decorations -- evergreen
branches along with lemon-grass stalks rosemary, bay leaves,
fruit, rose petals and other assortment of flowers and fruits.
In
other portions of the house lie various adornments, from
dainty potpourris to large impressive floral arrangements.
Christmas flower decoration has a particular worth. Each
of the flowers in the wreath - Christmas rose, Holly, Poinsettia,
Ivy and Mistletoes ignifies a meaning, evoking the spirit
of Christmas -- peace, love and prosperity.
Holly
leaves, with its spines, and red berries reminded early Christians
of the crown of thorns and blood of Christ; holly branches were
used to express good will and friendship. |
