During the holiday season, there are many different Christmas stories and Christmas legends acted out in skits, plays, movies and television shows.  Christmas festivals abound and Christmas stories are told and enacted in various ways.

The oldest and most popular Christmas legend is the story of Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem and the birth of Jesus Christ in a lowly manger.

Many Christmas festivals have live manger scenes with actors portraying the holy family at the time of Christ's birth.

There are television shows that are run every year that tell everything from the story of Christ's birth, to the legend of the donkey that carried Mary upon its back as she journeyed to Bethlehem.

One of the most well loved Christmas legends for is that of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, a childhood favorite for many years now.

There are also many variations of the Santa Clause story.

Countries all over the world have their own Santa legends and stories, and many of these have been passed down through families and depicted on television and in movies and plays everywhere.

The one common theme of Christmas stories and legends everywhere, regardless of origin or country, is that of the joy of giving and appreciation of family and loved ones.
