The Birth of Jesus
The birth of Jesus, or the Christmas story,
is one of the most popular stories in Christmas history. While
some groups consider it to be one of the more popular Christmas
legends, Christians and other cultures highly regard it
as a true and actual account of the origins of Christmas.
The Christmas story tells of the Christ child,
born of a virgin in a barn in Bethlehem and placed in a manger. Visitors
from all over followed the bright star that guided them to
Jesus’ side.
It is said that there were shepherds
in the fields tending their sheep when a bright light shone
on them. It was an angel.
The shepherds were afraid
but the angel told them to not be afraid because he had good
news.
He
said that the son of God had been born and that they would find
him in Bethlehem. |

According to the Christmas story, the shepherds traveled
to see Jesus. When they arrived the knelt down and worshipped
him and told Mary and Joseph, Jesus’ mother and father,
about the angel appearing before them and telling them that Jesus
would be the savior of the world.

According to the Christmas history as detailed
in documents, wise men, or magi, saw the star shining high
in the sky.
They consulted their scrolls that said
when a bright star lit up the sky it meant that a great
ruler was born.
The wise me then followed the star
to Jesus’ side. Their arrival is celebrated
as the Epiphany, the culmination of the twelve days of
Christmas.
Whether the Christmas story is truly just a Christmas
legend or fact, it is a popular tradition that has been handed
down for generations.
It is a testament of faith for
Christians and a wonderful story for children and adults
alike.
It is highly regarded as fact in most cultures
although the dates have always been in question. The Bible
did not provide an actual date to account for when this event
took place therefore members of the church set the time as December
25 which does coincide with certain pagan festivals celebrating
the winter solstice. |
Whatever
the case, the Christmas story is no doubt a rich and wonderful
part of Christmas history.Telling Christmas stories is an old but most popular custom of the Christmas celebrations. The birth of Jesus is most told story among those.
People of different origins believe that Jesus was born to Virgin Mary. Christians believe that wise men came to see the Jesus and also brought gifts with them. The custom of exchanging gifts is adopted from there. Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus on 25th December. All the festivals start from or after that date.
