The Christmas festival is celebrated all over the
world in one form or another. Parades, parties and feasts abound in these Christmas celebrations. Families get together and make these festivals a part of their own Christmas traditions.
In
the United States, the Festival of Lights in Natchitoches (pronounced
nack-uh-tish), a tiny town in northern Louisiana, is a rich tradition
in the region and a veritable landmark for revelers from all
over the country.
This Festival of Lights boasts as being one of the oldest Christmas festivals in the nation. People come from all over to view the spectacular light display and to take part in this celebration's main attraction, the Natchitoches Christmas Festival that has been held the first weekend in December since 1927.
The Festival of Lights begins in mid November and runs through the New Year. |
