The more you can by second hand, the more you will be able to spend on the child. Also, you can pick up a few bargains and rarities. This is not something that you can plan your baby room decoration ideas around, but it is a good way to save money.

You may also want to consider having your baby nursery decorations with a theme. This can make purchasing items simpler, and with a theme in mind, you can work out what you need to buy, and how much it will cost.

If you don't know the gender of the child, this can make having a theme for your baby room decoration a bit more complex, and in this case you may decide upon a neutral theme for your baby nursery decoration.

When you design all of this baby room decoration, you will need to bear in mind that the baby will grow out of babyish themes very quickly. Will they still be happy in a room with fairies as baby wall decoration when they are three or four?

You could get around this by using fictional or cartoon characters as the basis for your decoration, or you could adopt an older theme from the start, your baby will not realise, after all.
